Neewer AS600B Review – A Videographer’s Verdict
Hello fellow videographers, today I’ll be doing an in-depth review of the Neewer AS600B. In my line of work, choosing the right video lighting equipment is crucial. I recently had the chance to put this powerful light through its paces during a paid shoot for an E-bike company.
To set the scene, we were using a large booklight setup (which you can see in the video above) and needed something significantly more potent than your standard 300w to adequately illuminate our subject. Enter the Neewer AS600B.
Power and Tunability.

Right out of the gate, let me just say that this light is powerful! With a robust output capacity that surpasses many other models in its price range, it handled our large booklight setup with ease. If you want a tutorial for this one stand book light setup, let me know. Also, in the YouTube video description above I’ve included full gear list for making this setup.
One feature I found incredibly useful was its tunability. The ability to adjust and control the output of your light source is not only beneficial but essential in achieving professional-grade cinematography results.
The Big Strength
Now let’s talk about price. The Neewer AS600B is extremely affordable compared to other lights on the market with similar features and power. This feature alone makes it a viable option for budget-conscious videographers who still want professional-level performance.
The product also comes with a well-built case for easy transport and thick cables that promise durability over time. Additionally, mounting equipment is included in the package which saves you from potential extra costs.
One Big Issue I Had
However, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows with the Neewer AS600B. Upon receiving my first unit, there seemed to be some quality control issues as it was malfunctioning right out of the box. Thankfully, amazon sent me a replacement promptly.
Another point worth mentioning is that there are cheaper daylight options available on the market. If you primarily shoot under daylight conditions and don’t require the tunability feature, you might want to consider other options.
Pro’s and Cons
Pros:
- Powerful
- Affordable
- Comes with a great case
- Thick and durable cables
- Mounting equipment included
Cons:
- Quality control could be improved

Conclusion
In conclusion, the Neewer AS600B is a versatile and potent light source that offers excellent value for its price point, despite some minor drawbacks.
